Jackson Rathbone announces first solo album: Billy Badass

The Twilight Saga actor Jackson Rathbone has announced that his first solo album will be released on iTunes later this month.
Rathbone is featured in the latest issue (November 2012) of Glow, the Thailand-based fashion and lifestyle magazine.
In the interview, Rathbone spoke about his love for both acting and music. “Acting and music are two very different yet similar forms of art. Sometimes I feel as if I’m in a chimera in that I cannot separate those forms of art. I will continue to act and make music concurrently as long as I breathe,” he said.
Since 2005, Rathbone has appeared in a number of television shows, including Close to HomeThe O.C. and Beautiful People. His films include the horror movies Pray for Morning (2006), Hurt (2009) and Dread (2009). However, it’s his role in the Twilight films – as the vampire Jasper Hale – that he is best known.

*Updated* Jackson Rathbone Leaves 100 Monkeys

Band News!
March 4th, 2012   |   Lani   |   2 Comments »

Hey folks, 100 Monkeys has some news. Due to demands on their personal lives and professional careers, our good friends
Jackson Rathbone and Jerad Anderson will be leaving the band as active members. We have much love for both and wish them well, and they will always be welcome if they should ever decide to drop in on any future shows, or make appearances on recordings. The last four years of albums, tours and other projects have truly been fantastic, and the legacy they leave behind in their work will be remembered in all of our future endeavors. We wish them the best in their future projects and anticipate great new things to come.

Ben Johnson, Ben Graupner, and Lawrence Abrams will continue with 100 Monkeys and will be working onward with the release of the band’s new single “City of Bones,” March 12th, and a set of shows in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Las Vegas starting this April. We will be playing these as a five-piece and will announce the names of the accompanying musicians shortly.

We really can’t tell you how much we love all of you. It is an absolute honor to have received the support and encouragement you have given us through the years, and from all of us we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We look forward to many more shows, albums, videos, books, and god knows what else we will come up with, and we look forward to sharing it with the people that matter the most, all of you.

Much Love,

100 Monkeys

Fans petition for 100 Monkeys to appear on 'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' soundtrack

For ages, we've been discussing the possibility that Jackson Rathbone ("Jasper Hale" in the Twilight Saga) and his band,100 Monkeys, could appear on one of the Twilight Saga film soundtracks, and this year, with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, it's the last chance.
Previously, two actors from the films have appeared on one or more of the albums. Robert Pattinson ("Edward Cullen") contributed "Let Me Sign" and "Never Think" to the Twilightsoundtrack, while Mia Maestro ("Carmen" - Denali Coven) brought "Llovera" to the soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1.
Rathbone and the Monkeys, meanwhile, haven't gotten onto any . . . yet.
In June of 2011, Rathbone commented on whether he and his band would like to appear on the soundtrack, saying "We won’t push it, but, hey, if we were approached, we wouldn’t say ‘No,’ I bet."

100 reasons to see Jackson Rathbone and his Monkey mates

King Tut's in Glasgow went bananas for LA based band 100 Monkeys who played in front of a packed crowd on their first trip across the pond. Most recognisable in the Monkey line-up was Twilight Saga star Jackson Rathbone who along with his monkey mates impressed the crowd with their mash up of musical genres.

First off it has to be said that this collection of multi-instrumental musicians are hard to define. The 100 Monkeys, made up of Jackson Rathbone, Ben Graupner, Jerad Anderson, Ben Johnson and M. Lawrence 'Uncle Larry' Abrams, delivered a set bursting at the seams with a quick paced mash of blues beats, soul sounds and rock-n-roll rhythms but with a modern fresh twist.

The result was, under the command of Rathbone, that the swaying crowd were well and truly “funkified” as the upbeat chords of opener Ugly Girl bounced around the room.

Before the gig 100 Monkeys sat down to talk to STV about their unique live shows and how they don't let their busy lives get in the way of coming up with new ways to please their every growing troup of Monkey followers.

Rathbone commented: "With any group of artists who come together to focus on one unified vision you really have to dedicated the time and energy for that and that's not easy. All of us do have different jobs or different bands that we perform in or different avenues of the arts that we pursue. We have to take the time to practise, practise and passion are the two most important aspects of being a musician. There are five of us and we have five very different lives and it can be a chore some times but we make it work we have fun with it."
