Charlie Bewley finished the Vancouver Marathon!

Charlie Bewley has finished his big Vancouver marathon today, and not only finished it, but he managed to raise at least $20,000 for the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation in memory of his friend Jocelyn Clarke.

The marathon raises an estimated $40,000 a year for five different charities. This year, actor Charlie Bewley, who plays the vampire Demetri in the Twilight movie series, raised $20,000 for the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
Deirdre Rowland, a spokeswoman for the marathon, said Bewley had tears in his eyes as he crossed the finish line.
She said he was running to raise money for the hospital that helped care for his friend Jocelyn Clarke, a local stunt double, who died of cancer in February.
Read more about the marathon here and check out all the marathon photos on the BMO Vancouver Marathon Facebook page!

Way to go, Charlie!!

Port Talbot wants to honor Michael Sheen for "Passion"

MICHAEL SHEEN’S Passion “was a tremendous boost to the local economy”, businesses said yesterday.
They said the 72-hour performance, which began in Port Talbot on Good Friday, has put the town “on the map”.
Calls have now been made to give the Hollywood actor, brought up in Baglan, recognition for raising the town’s profile.
Port Talbot’s shops also recorded booming sales over Easter, thanks to the influx of visitors.
Aberafan Shopping Centre manager Steve Redmore said: “It was phenomenal, absolutely fantastic for the town.
“We’ve got a footfall counting system in the centre and we average around 26,000 visitors on a Saturday. But on the Saturday of The Passion, we had over 40,000 visitors.
“It has definitely put Port Talbot on the map and many tenants had an increase in trade. A lot of people took note of the event and had a fantastic experience when they came here. I would hope that they would revisit Port Talbot.”

Robert Pattinson thinks he has an old-fashioned body

20th Century Fox

It seems, Robert Pattinson considers his body shape ''old-fashioned.'' Not old-fashioned as in outdated or obsolete, but in the sense that his body size and shape seem suited to an earlier era. R-Patz believes his body shape is old-fashioned because the 1930s clothes he wore in Water for Elephants fitted him so well.

"I always wanted to do a movie that was set in the 1930s as I love the clothes they wore," R-Patz explained, adding that he " jumped at the chance" to star opposite Reese Witherspoon in Water for Elephants because he'd always wanted to act in a film set in the 1930's. Once hired, he was amazed at how well he fit into the vintage 1930's costumes.

"The wardrobe was amazing," he gushed. "All authentic stuff - and everything I tried on fitted perfectly. I must have an old-fashioned body or something, as the clothes suited me better than regular ones."

Java native worked on 'Water for Elephants'

What do the little community of Java and the bestseller, now a movie, “Water for Elephants” have in common?
Charles “Chuck” Adams.
Adams, a Pittsylvania County native, is the executive editor of Algonquin Books in Chapel HillN.C., the publishing company that published “Water for Elephants.” He edited the manuscript and has watched along with other staff members as the book became a bestseller then the movie that premiered April 22 and stars Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson.
So how did Adams get from Java, which he described as a “nice farming community, but kind of in the middle of nowhere” to being invited to the movie premiere of the much-anticipated movie?
Here’s how:
“I was alone a lot as a kid and began reading books from my mother’s little library,” Adams recalled. “I was exposed to what was basically commercial fiction, often historical and romantic.”
A teacher also figured into the story — Mrs. Reese McCormick, who was his teacher for three years in grade school.
“She challenged me to read as much as possible, so I read just about everything in the school’s small library — I remember mostly mysteries and adventure stories,” he said. “She also urged me to write, and I tried my hand at essays and stories. I found that while I wrote well, I really did not have the kind of imagination that successful creative writers need, so I never did much writing beyond what was required in school.”
Then off he went to Duke University where he earned extra money typing papers for friends and couldn’t pass up editing some of the poorly written ones. He also worked during the summers at The Bee, Danville’s afternoon paper before The Danville Register and The Bee merged in 1989.
“I filled in for anyone on vacation, but gradually began taking on assignments to write feature articles, or to rewrite stories from the morning paper so that they would feel ‘fresh’ when rerun in The Bee,” he said. “It was good experience, and I learned a lot about economy of words and how to organize thoughts.”

Why Robert Pattinson Can't WAIT for 'Breaking Dawn'

It’s clear that the stars of The Twilight Saga have become close over the years — particularly during the long process of shooting Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Part 2 (in theaters November 2011 and 2012). “Having to spend so much time with people…it’s just nice when you like them. There is a real bond. I think also there’s something humbling about wearing the makeup and contacts,” says Robert Pattinson.
But of course all that bonding doesn’t stop him from teasing one of his co-stars. “Except Taylor [Lautner]–he doesn’t have to do a thing. He’s managed [to do] no work on this last one,” Pattinson laughs. “He’s always a wolf!” However, as Pattinson is quick to point out, Lautner will face plenty of challenges when it comes to Breaking Dawn Part 2 (beware, spoilers ahead!). “He has to fall in love with a baby,” Pattinson says (kinda gleefully). “Oh, God, I can’t wait to see how that goes.”
Lautner doesn’t seem too surprised to hear about Pattinson’s ribbing. “Oh my gosh. That sounds like him,” he says. “Everyone is always complaining to me that I don’t have to wear the contacts, I don’t have to wear the white makeup or wear wigs and all that stuff. And I’m like, ‘I’m the one in the freezing rain and cold not wearing a shirt! I paid my dues in New Moon andEclipse.’”

Summit Picks up Gavin Hood's 'Ender's Game'

The project was first announced last fall and finds Gavid Hood (”Tsotsi,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) tackling the classic novel penned by Orson Scott Card. The story is set in the future, when Earth is at war with an insectoid race named the Formics, and follows Ender, one of a group of children being trained to be military commanders. Wolfgang Petersen was previously developing a D.B. Weiss/David Benioff-penned adaptation of the novel, but that fell by the wayside. But Hood is knee deep in development of the project, which set up at Odd Lot Entertainment, and he is rewriting a script by Card himself. Not only that, he’s got the powerhouse producing duo of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman behind him and now, the project finally has a studio home.
Deadline reveals that Summit has acquired the rights to the movie and are planning to turn into a youth-oriented franchise and no surprise given the mammoth success of the “Twilight” serires. Next month, foreign buyers will get a chance to take look at the project as Hood will give a visual presentation of what he has in store at the Cannes Film Festival. Things are moving along and plans are get this one rolling by early 2012.
