Kristen Stewart to attend The Met Costume Institute Gala and Exhibition: American Women
Even though it might seem like we were just touring the halls of The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion, it is already time (at least for us) to start planning for the 2010 Costume Institute exhibition and gala. To that end, the Metropolitan Museum of Art today announced the much anticipated theme: American Women: Fashioning a National Identity.
The exhibition, which will run from May 5, 2010 to August 15, 2010, will harness the resources of the newly established Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection at the Met and it will take a closer look at American women from 1890-1940 and how these women have influenced our perceptions of the modern woman. The exhibition (which will include pieces not seen in public for the past 30 years) will be curated by Andrew Bolton with the support of Harold Koda and the production designer will be Nathan Crowley, a film designer whose credits include The Dark Knight and Public Enemies.
And what about the Party of the Year, you ask? The annual Costume Institute Gala Benefit will take place at the museum on Monday, May, 3, 2010 at the Met, and it will be hosted by Oprah Winfrey, Patrick Robinson of the Gap, and Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue.
According to co-chair Patrick Robinson, the partnership between the Gap, Vogue and Met seemed like the perfect partnership at the perfect time. “Gap is part of the American heritage,” says Robinson. “Especially for the modern woman. If you look at snapshots throughout our forty-year history, you can see it reflected in the fashion of the times—from Sharon Stone wearing a Gap tee-shirt to the Oscars, to the idea of wearing kahki on “casual Fridays” to, more recently, when we dressed the entire floor of the New York Stock Exchange in denim. It just makes sense that women would express themselves over the years with an iconic American brand that evolves with them.”
Gap President Marka Hensen shares in his excitement. ”It’s a really wonderful feeling for us to be involved in such a special and important event,” Hensen says. “There is a great synchronicity among all the elements—this idea of being both empowered and inclusive—that is very much in line with our brand.” As to what she plans to wear to the gala? “I’ll start worrying about that in the spring,” she laughs. “Right now, I still have no idea!”
Frederic Fekkai celebrity stylists will be out and about in New York for the 2010 MET Ball and working with some of Hollywood’s most glamorous celebrities. Every Fekkai salon will be filled from Soho to the newest space at the Mark. Renato Campora will style the beautiful locks of Jessica Alba and Kristen Stewart.

'Twilight's Ashley Greene: 'There's always people sitting outside my house'
gossip.whyfame.com
Ashley Greene, who plays vampire Alice Cullen in The Twilight Saga films, including the new third movie Eclipse, says fans and paparazzi follow her around all the time and have even reached her home, which she called "frightening".
"There's always people sitting outside my house," she said in comments recently published by Nylon Magazine. "I put my own security system in my apartment because you have to worry about people getting a little too obsessed."
"It can get a little frightening sometimes," the 23-year-old said. "It's a bit insane for me, because Twilight is this huge teen phenomenon and the fans are passionate and want to know everything about us. So, you know, we get followed around."
Betty White rebuffs Robert Pattinson's advances (?)
By Kim Palacios
From HollywoodNews.com
Betty White must be senile.
It’s the only explanation for her exclusive statement to Access Hollywood, in which she refused to “flirt back” in response to Robert Pattinson’s remark on “The View” that he thought she was “sexy” (view the video below). “Now that is a comedy line!” the 88-year-old actress replied, once she heard wind of what Pattinson had said on a March 2nd episode of The View. Yet, Rob’s original delivery of the comments was made with absolute reverence.
When co-host of The View, Sherri Shepherd, recited the text of an e-mail sent from a reader asking Rob whether he would date an older woman, Rob immediately responded “Yeah…I think Betty White is one of the sexiest women in America”. The other co-hosts laughed and ribbed him for his response: “That’s very sweet,” said Joy Behar, “even though it’s the biggest lie I’ve ever heard.”

Stephenie Meyer explains "Breaking Dawn" book cover
"It represents Bella and Bella," Stephenie spills. "This cover, one of the reasons why I love it and was so happy we finally came up with the concept, is that it's the whole book series on one cover. Bella's starts out as the weakest player on the board and she ends up as the one who decides the outcome of the story. She became the most powerful player, and I really liked that metaphor. I liked seeing her evolution in one picture."
Breaking Dawn's cover shows the weakest piece on a chess board – a pawn – and focuses on the strongest one, the queen. Although Bella's character comes full circle, Stephenie still feels that other players in the Twilight saga have more to share. She confesses that Leah's story doesn't feel resolved to her and foresees future writing from Renesmee's point-of-view.

David Slade to direct next X-Men?
Last night reports began surfacing that 20th Century Fox was close to signing on Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn to helm X-Men: First Class. Shortly thereafter, those reports were shot down. So who's going to direct the next entry into the X-Men franchise? Great question. There are a bunch of names floating around, including Timur Bekmambetov, Louis Leterrier, David Slade, Daniel Espinoza, and Carl Erick Rinsch. Fox is expected to choose one of the names out of a hat by next week and start shooting this summer.
Casting of ‘Last Airbender’ stirs controversy
Zade Rosenthal / Paramount Pictures
By Sam Adams, Special to the Los Angeles Times
By now, the movie industry has plenty of practice weathering the complaints of fans who object to the inevitable departures that accompany the adaptation of a pre-existing property to a big-screen franchise. But the concerns that surfaced as M. Night Shyamalan went into production on "The Last Airbender" were more serious than the usual nitpicking. Amid the kvetching about the shape and size of the facial scar sported by the film's chief villain were accusations that Shyamalan had whitewashed the story, which was influenced by Asian art and mythology, by casting Caucasian actors in many leading roles.
Noah Ringer, a tween tae kwon do champion from Texas, was chosen for the role of Aang, a high-spirited boy who discovers that he is the last surviving member of the Air Nation; "Twlight's" Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz ("Deck the Halls") were cast as his best friends, Water Nation siblings Sokka and Katara.
The "Airbender" outcry was not unusual — the controversy over Broadway's "Miss Saigon" is but one of many forerunners. The source material for the Paramount Pictures film (which opens July 2, and if all goes well will have two succeeding installments) is " Avatar: The Last Airbender," an animated series that aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. (The first word was dropped from the big-screen project for obvious reasons.)

Although creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko were heavily influenced by Asian martial arts lore and incorporated elements of Chinese and Tibetan cultures, the characters had no explicit race. But some Asian Americans saw the film's casting as the latest in a string of insults from an industry in which it was once common for white actors to squint their eyes and spout fortune-cookie wisdom while Asian actors were confined to playing opium-den extras.
On the film's Philadelphia set last summer, Shyamalan took issue with the idea that "The Last Airbender" presents a lily-white version of the cartoon's universe. "Ultimately, this movie, and then the three movies, will be the most culturally diverse tentpole movies ever released, period," he said. "So if I'm failing the bar, I'm not sure whose bar is set higher than this movie." At the time when the criticisms first surfaced early last year, boy-band heartthrob Jesse McCartney was set to play the villainous Prince Zuko. But when he dropped out over conflicts with his touring schedule, the role was recast with " Slumdog Millionaire's" Dev Patel and the Fire Nation took on a darker hue. Iranian-born Shaun Toub was cast as Patel's uncle and Maori actor Cliff Curtis as his father.

More thoughts: Robert Pattinson makes 2010 TIME 100
By Tracy Rosenfield
From Hollywoodnews.com: On April 29th, Time.com announced the winners of its Time 100 poll – the 100 most influential people based on public vote. Among this list was none other than “Twilight’s” Robert Pattinson, ranked as the 6th most influential artist in the world and the #1 most influential actor among this group. He is only surpassed by Lady Gaga, Conan O’Brien, Kathryn Bigelow, Oprah Winfrey and Valery Gergiev. Also of note is that Summit Entertainment has worked with both Pattinson and Bigelow.Though Pattinson has collaborated with a number people in the film and music industry, it was “New Moon” director Chris Weitz who wrote Rob’s tribute. Weitz is extremely attune to how his every move, really anything related to Rob, spreads like wildfire not only across the internet, but among print as well. He stated as much in his article: “I have to be careful about what I write here because it will be tweeted the moment TIME hits the stands.” For someone absent on Twitter, Weitz is quite familiar with how this fandom operates, having experienced it himself during “New Moon” filming.
Weitz took a humorous approach to writing about Rob – something Rob would undoubtedly appreciate more than an article praising him for his massive influence over this generation. As you well know, Rob is self-deprecating and would likely choose to stay out of the limelight if he could (and still keep his career).

Robert Pattinson: From Blond Baby to Handsome Heartthrob
From HollywoodNews.com: Robert Pattinson sort of came out of nowhere. Sure, he had a couple films and a short, relatively unnoticed role in Harry Potter (so unnoticed in fact that people objected when he was announced as the actor playing Edward Cullen).
But then “Twilight” hit theaters. Suddenly Rob was and is the world’s heartthrob. Let’s take a look at a few pictures of Rob to find out where this heartthrob came from.
Ah, the bowl cut. And a serious look. Not much to see here. But check out the nose compared to the first picture. It’s more defined. It’s turning into Rob’s nose. -------------------------------------
Everyone has their awkward stage. Only RPattz could manage to model during that stage. I don’t find this picture flattering at all (and there are plenty more of his model pics out there), but someone clearly thought he had a look worth paying for. Photo credit: @Legacy62 ---------------------------------
Rob’s still young here, but the jawporn is starting to form and we can already see the captivating smile. Here, at a tender age, he’s about to explode. Photo Credit: @Legacy62 -------------------------------
But wait. He reverts back a bit. Rob is still in his awkward stage here, cheeks (and thus jaw) a little fuller, but he’s also in character in this film. The porn hair hasn’t yet materialized. Photo Credit: How To Be Films To see Rob emerge into the RPattz we know today, visit Hollywood.com

David Duchovny Would "Go Gay" For Robert Pattinson

David Duchovny would "go gay" for the stars of 'Twilight'.
The 49-year-old star admits he has a "long list" of famous men he would consider changing his sexual preference for, with director Woody Allen and the stars of the vampire movie franchise, including Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner among those he admires.
David - who has two children with wife Tea Leoni - said: "If I were gay, you know. I think Woody Allen is one of a long list of men I might go gay for.
"Garry Shandling is someone I've publicly gone gay for, for jokes. Oh and anyone in the 'Twilight' movies. I don't know any of their names, but all of them. The wolves, the vampires? They're all fantastic."
David also revealed that one of his greatest pleasures is showering naked outside his house in Massachusetts.
He told Empire magazine: "I seriously hope no-one in Massachusetts reads this, but we have this outdoor shower and so I'm kinda naked and outside. I really enjoy taking an outdoor shower."
David also admitted he regularly uses his fame to get free goods.
He said: "Do I use my celebrity to get something for free? Hell yeah! Mostly sporting apparel. Oh and the courtside seats at basketball games are fantastic. It's a fantasy for someone like me, who grew up wanting to play basketball, to be down there."
Los Angeles Times Presents: The Wolf Pack
The 1950s gave us the Rat Pack. The ‘80s, the Brat Pack. These days, the Wolf Pack is roaming the film scene.
Although the "Twilight" franchise may have helped spur the vampire craze with the Cullen brood, the saga's gang of shape-shifters is bringing sexy back to werewolves. And in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," which hits theaters June 30, that's no different.
"The Cullens are very reserved," said Alex Meraz, who plays Wolf Pack member Paul. "They're vampires, but they're not out killing people. They're not what they're meant to be. Whereas the Wolf Pack, we're through and through animals. We're frisky. We're fun. There's something sexy about that."
In the third installment of the franchise, the band of brotherly (and sisterly, as we'll see) hirsute creatures joins forces with its rivals, the Cullens, after Seattle is plagued by a series of killings caused by an army of newborn vampires.
But since their computer-generated alter egos seem to be getting most of the screen time, here's a chance to get to know the actors pre-transformation:
Alex Meraz (Paul)
At 25, Meraz is still adjusting to the whirlwind that comes with being in a blockbuster franchise. But don't be fooled. He's not complaining.
"Bring it on," he said. "I was working really hard before, and it just didn't seem to pay off. I'm just really grateful for it all."
Before he caught the acting "virus," Meraz — who admitted his first viewing of "Twilight" was a bootleg version — demonstrated his artistic tendencies through dance, martial arts and painting. In fact, he still breaks out the paint and brushes to maintain his sanity through all the "Twilight" pandemonium.
But it's that pandemonium that gets him amped when talking about the movie.
"The fans are going to love this film," he said. "I didn't get my chance to touch anybody in ‘New Moon.' This time I go at it with Emmett [ Kellan Lutz]. I give him a nice bitch slap. But I'm in wolf form, so maybe it's a big paw slap?
"Oh, and there's a lot more action. It's more Paul wolf. You're going to see my wolf form doing a lot of stuff. You'll just see me running around shirtless once and a while."
So what of all those topless scenes?
"I have a newfound respect for women. I have to keep my figure. Girls are telling me to take my shirt off. It's like, ‘Hello! I'm a person, too!' "
Julia Jones (Leah Clearwater)
Bryce Dallas Howard isn't the only new face to join the burgeoning ensemble cast. Jones will make her debut to the franchise as Leah Clearwater, the scorned and bitter sole female member of the Wolf Pack.
"She's really a tough character," said Jones, 29. "She's pretty angry about a lot of things that she has every right to be angry about. She's miserable and lost and trying to cope internally without a lot of help. And she lashes out quite a bit."
Jones may not be a household name just yet, having appeared in independent films and a few episodes of "ER," but that will surely change for the Boston native come June. And for the woman who said she knew she wanted to be an actress after playing Michael Darling in a production of "Peter Pan" as a child, it'll be a learning process.
"I don't know," Jones said. "I'm just trying to take it easy while I can. It's going to be a new thing to figure out how to navigate this craze. I'm doing my best to prepare myself for all of it."
Chaske Spencer (Sam Uley)
Spencer reprises his role as werewolf Sam Uley, the sometimes disgruntled leader of the Wolf Pack.
Although Spencer hasn't exactly gotten used to the global attention — "It's cool, the recognition. But it's work. I know how to keep my life private" — he said he doesn't regret the decision to join the wildly popular franchise.
"There's a lot more offers," said Spencer, 35. "As an actor, that's all you can hope for: more chances to keep it going."
Spencer is in Arizona shooting his new film "Shouting Secrets," about a successful young writer in Los Angeles who is called back to his Native American background to tend to his ailing mother.
With the media blitz already in full effect for "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," Spencer said working on something completely different is a way to escape. But there's no escaping the constant pleas for spoilers from the new flick. And like his character's quiet, shadow-like wolf form, he only gives a whisper of details.
"This time around, Sam has to put his ego aside to take on this new breed of vampires," Spencer said. "There's a lot of new relationships being formed."

Jackson Rathbone's Crush on 'Eclipse' Co-Star
Could Jackson Rathbone be trying to steal Kristen Stewart away from Robert Pattinson? Or falling head-over-heels for his on-screen love interest Ashley Greene?Negative to both. Jackson's got a thing for Eclipse's new girl.
When talking about Bryce Dallas Howard, Jackson says, "I think she's an incredible actress and such a beautiful young woman. I also think she's way out of my league, so I'll just keep dreaming."
Sorry to break the news to you, Jackson, but Bryce is married to her college sweetheart. Here are a few more deets about the new Victoria:
She's the 29-year-old daughter of Oscar-winning director Ron Howard. Bryce has younger twin sisters and a younger brother. She was born in Los Angeles, but raised in Connecticut so she wouldn't be influenced by the Hollywood lifestyle. Besides Eclipse, Bryce's also been involved in another mega-movie franchise -- she went blonde to play Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3.
