'New Moon' Falls: Razzie Awards Nominate The Flick In Multiple Worst Categories

Awards season is in full swing, Oscar nominations are announced tomorrow, and it seems like the early months of the year are only here to celebrate the best of the best films. (It's definitely not to watch them. Cough "Leap Year" cough cough.) In the midst of this industry patting on the back, one awards show stands out from the rest. Today the Razzies announced its list of nominees for the 30th Razzie Awards and — sorry "Twilight" fans — "New Moon" met the cut over and over and over again.

While the film will be sure to get plenty of love in the fan-choice awards shows to come, "New Moon" definitely was not a critical favorite. It has been universally ignored by the various awards shows except for being shortlisted for best song (which really doesn't mean much), but not so by the Razzie's. "New Moon" was put in the nominations categories for Worst Screen Couple (Kristin Stewart and either Robert Pattinson or Taylor Whatz-His-Fang), Worst Supporting Actor (Robert), Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel and Worst Screenplay (Melissa Rosenberg).

But don't worry, "New Moon" wasn't the only film getting plenty of flack. "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" (affectionately referred to by the Razzies committee as "Trannies, Too") and "Land of the Lost" tied for the most Razzie noms with seven a piece. The leading men in both films took plenty of flack, with the Worst Onscreen Couple nom for "Trannies, Too" being Shia Lebouf & Either Megan Fox or Any Transformer, and the Worst Onscreen Couple nom for "Land of the Lost" being Will Ferrell and any co-star, Creature or “Comic Riff." Guess who the Razzie committee didn't like.

  1. If Robert gets worst supporting actor, then Taylor should have gotten worst actor.

  4. Everyone loves to be critical of things that a large number of people value. The critics also love to adore things that most people find little or no exceptional value in. "An Education" being an example of a nice film that no one apparently wants to see that is now nominated for Best Picture. Go figure.

  6. What made them as worst couple? Because he is big and tall while she is tiny beside him or because they don't divulge their affair personally? Or they didn't managed to convince the public with the vampire and human love struck couple? I don't get it, LOL! On the contrary that's where the Robsten came into existence the Edward and Bella obsession.
